This edition, we met with Eliana Chioetto, an individual who has devoted their life to next-generation design and aesthetics. Her robust background in design-driven companies led Chioetto to her current career at Porcelanosa—a Spanish manufacturer that’s a global leader in the innovation, design and distribution of tile, kitchen and bath products.
What’s your backstory?
Born in Peru, graduated from Santa Barbara High School in California. After college with a degree in business, I followed my wonderful husband Stefano to Milan where I lived for 12 years working for incredible design-driven companies such as HABITAT, the publishing house of prestigious design and architecture magazines, as well as the SAMBONET ROSENTHAL GROUP in their marketing and sales departments respectively. I participated in the best European design trade shows, Il Salone di Milano being one of my favorites. In Denver, I worked for another design publication, MODERN IN DENVER. This stint connected me to my present position with PORCELANOSA GROUP USA.

I am the account executive for the Denver and Aspen areas.
How does architecture and design tie into your passions in life?
Architecture and design are a philosophy of life. I love to savor the things that surround me. The love for original ideas is what drives a lot of my personal and professional choices.
Define the design style you tend to gravitate towards in two words:
Simplicity and harmony.
What are the current trends in flooring and tile you’re seeing?
The current trend in tile is more natural, perfectly finished textures, more sustainable materials and more refined, crisp lines. Big formats for floors and walls, creating limitless spaces under a unified aesthetic.
How has Covid-19 impacted production?
Our factory in Spain paused for two weeks, but our logistics center never stopped.
What design rule have you seen broken that made an impression?
Cohesiveness. Buildings or homes with multiple clashing styles.

South Broadway has become one of the coolest, hippest streets in Denver.
